56.com Wins Copyright Infringement Appeal

Tencent Tech, 3/24/09

Beijing No.2 Intermediate People's Court has upheld a previous ruling by Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court rejecting copyright infringement allegations brought against Chinese online video sharing platform provider 56.com by film and television production company Ciwen Pictures.

Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court ruled on November 11, 2008 that 56.com was an information and storage space service provider and, according to relevant online broadcast copyright protection laws, should not be held responsible for users uploading the television series "Family", a television series owned by Ciwen.
