AirMedia Records USD 1.3 mln Q1 2009 Net Loss

Chinese digital media network operator AirMedia Group (Nasdaq: AMCN) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q1 2009, with net revenues reaching USD 31.7 mln, up 55.3% year-on-year.

Net loss for the quarter came to USD 1.3 mln, compared to net income of USD 7.3 mln for the same quarter in 2008.

Revenues for the quarter from digital frames in airports increased by 79.7% year-over-year, but decreased by 30.1% quarter-over-quarter to USD 12.0 mln. Average advertising revenue per time slot sold (ASP) of digital frames decreased by 77.3% year-over-year and decreased by 3.9% quarter-over-quarter to USD 3,585.

Revenues from digital TV screens in airports grew by 22.6% year-over-year and 7.4% quarter-over-quarter to USD 12.2 mln. ASP for digital TV screens in airports decreased by 19.1% year-over-year and by 26.4% quarter-over-quarter to USD 1,468.

Revenues from digital TV screens on airplanes decreased by 27.2% year-over-year and by 31.5% quarter-over-quarter to USD 2.8 mln. The ASP of digital TV screens on airplanes increased by 8.4% year-over-year and decreased by 18.3% quarter-over-quarter to USD 17,199.

The company estimates Q2 2009 revenues will range from USD 36.0 mln to USD 38.0 mln, representing a year-over-year increase of 20.9% to 27.6% from the same period in 2008.
