Rumor: Bain Capital to Acquire 18% Stake in Gome

An inside source has revealed that Bain Capital plans to acquire an 18% stake in Chinese consumer electronics and home appliance retail chain Gome (0493.HK) for USD 400 mln as well as purchase seven-year convertible bonds. According to the terms of the deal, Gome founder Huang Guangyu will remain controlling shareholder.

The source said, however, that both the conditions and the deal itself are still subject to revision.
