Storm Disables 'Treasure Chest' Features

Shanghai Evening Post, 6/30/09

Following the Ministry of Culture's new regulations for virtual currencies, online game developer Storm Entertainment posted an urgent announcement on the official website for its game Yuyan Online saying that starting July 1, it would shut down "treasure chest" functionality, and recommending that in the run-up to July 1, users of the "treasure chest" service divest themselves of their virtual currency as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for game operator 9You said the number of games it operated incorporating lottery functionality was low, and that adjustments would be made as necessary to affected games within the near future.
