Netease to Export Browser Games

Netease Tech, 9/15/09

William Ding, CEO of Chinese online game developer and operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES), revealed during a player meet-up event yesterday that the company is considering the overseas launch of two browser games, Storm of Empires and World of Sanguo.

Having begun unlimited closed beta testing on August 4, Sanguo Tianxia is Netease's competitive entry to the browser-based war strategy game market.

Storm of Empires was developed by the "Thundercloud Group" at Netease's Huixia Leihuo Studio. Set against a background from China's Warring States period and ancient Chinese legends, the game combines elements from both strategy and RPG-style games. Second-stage testing of the game began today.

Ding stated further that Netease currently has no plans to enter the mobile gaming market.
