Survey: CMMB Consumers Want Monthly Fee, Long Battery Life

Tencent Tech, 9/17/09

Tencent Tech has completed a large-scale questionnaire survey of over 400,000 potential CMMB users. Out of nine factors influencing consumers' choice of CMMB devices, the most frequent answer was "battery life." 98.6% of respondents preferred to pay a monthly fee for CMMB programming over other pricing plans. When asked which of six CMMB terminal products they would most prefer, 22% of respondents chose netbook over more common alternatives - MP3, MP4, MP5, GPS, or handset - which have been on the market longer.

When purchasing a CMMB product, over 50% of respondents would be willing to spend between RMB 1,000-1,500. Regarding programming, respondents were most interested in programs that were cutting edge and interactive. 31% of respondents were interested in CMMB data push services such as audio-visual downloads, traffic navigation and financial information.
