Wldbs.com, 9/24/09

To date, Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has formed partnerships with nearly 20 domestic and overseas brands in five major traditional industry categories on B2C promotion. Brands include electronics retailer Suning (002024.SZ), Samsung, electronics maker Haier, sportswear brand Li-Ning, glasses maker Baodao Optical, Japanese paint-maker Nissen, L'Oreal, online medicine retailer Yaofang.com, Phoenix New Media internet portal iFeng.com, and educational services provider New Oriental (NYSE: EDU), among others. Under its agreements with the companies, Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) will provide search engine marketing (SEM) solutions for the companies' B2C services.

In mid-August, Baidu announced that it would expand its "YouA" e-commerce platform and enter the B2C market. CTO Li Yinan said at the time that e-commerce would be a key focus for Baidu over the next five years.
