Liaoning Mobile Fixes Dropped Call Bug in TD-SCDMA Network

People's Posts and Telecommunications News, 9/25/09

Liaoning Mobile's technicians report having resolved instability issues for the handoff success rate of the province's TD-SCDMA network, raising the rate from a previous 73% to 98%. The operator's technicians found that during tests, the network's handoff success rate experienced massive fluctuations between 30% and 98%, with a daily average of 73% success, severely impacting numbers of dropped calls. Technicians found that the problem was ultimately due to a fault in the core network equipment software, which, when patched, brought the daily average handoff success rate to approximately 98%. Liaoning Mobile has reported the solution to China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) headquarters, which is expected to help the operator solve network-wide instability issues.
