SARFT Reveals Second-Round DBS Rural Bidding Results

China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has released the results of second-round bidding for terrestrial satellite TV (DBS) receivers for the Cuncuntong rural connectivity project. The project is procuring 8.65 mln units this year compared to 3.66 mln last year, for total expenditure of RMB 3 bln compared to RMB 1.4 bln last year. The number of firms that submitted bids rose from seven to fifteen. Receiver prices ranged between RMB 334-371.

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Hisense Electric (600060.SH) won contracts worth nearly RMB 350 mln to supply almost 1 mln receivers to nine provinces (Hebei, Jilin, Anhui, Hainan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Ningxia and Gansu). Vendors which won bids and the approximate volume of DBS receivers they won contracts to supply are detailed below:
