Rumor: Taobao to Form JV with Golden Eagle

An industry source has said that PR personnel at Chinese e-commerce platform Taobao have revealed to certain media that the company is discussing a possible joint venture with Hunan-based broadcasting network Golden Eagle Broadcasting System (GBS).

The source said that negotiations have nearly finished to establish a joint venture between Taobao and two GBS subsidiaries: Hunan Satellite TV and shopping channel Happigo. The new joint venture will create an integrated TV shopping and e-commerce platform, as well as creating related television programming, and promoting products through e-commerce and mobile platforms.
