SARFT Tightens TV Infomercial Regulations

The Beijing News, 1/06/10

China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has announced it will tighten regulations for TV infomercials, banning the use of hosts and curtailing the use of exaggerated and misleading "Call Now!" style marketing.

SARFT issued warning letters to two satellite TV channels around January 1, while one TV station was given a verbal warning by provincial level broadcasting authorities.
