17173.com, 1/12/10

According to a reliable industry source, China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) has notified Chinese online game operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) that World of Warcraft expansion pack Burning Crusade must revert to its former free closed beta state before January 17, or face suspension of Internet access and hefty penalty fines.

Netease's department of public relations said it had not received any such notice, and declined to comment further on the matter.
