Lenovo Mobile Pushes Low-Cost TD-SCDMA Handsets

CCTIME, 2/05/10

Zeng Guozhang, vice president of the operator business department at Lenovo Group's (0992.HK) handset subsidiary, Lenovo Mobile, has said that Lenovo Mobile's overall goals for 2010 are focused on TD-SCDMA handsets. The company will focus on expanding the proportion of RMB 1,000 handsets on the market, and will soon release a RMB 1,000 TD-SCDMA handset, the TD30t. Unlike previous TD-SCDMA handset models that required an external SD card to support decryption of CMMB mobile TV broadcast, the TD30t supports CMMB decryption internally.

In 2009, Lenovo Mobile held almost 1% of the CDMA handset market in China, a share which the company plans to expand to 3% in 2010.
