China Mobile Completes First Tender for FTTx Equipment

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has completed its first tender for FTTx equipment procurement, with five manufacturers winning bids for GPON and EPON equipment. ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB), Ericsson, and Fiberhome (600498.SH) won their bids for GPON equipment procurement; ZTE, Huawei, ASB, and Fiberhome won bids for EPON equipment procurement.

China Mobile provincial subsidiary Guangdong Mobile added that its GPON and EPON equipment procurement would be used towards its "10,000 Building Fiber Plan". The plan promotes fixed-line fiber-to-building and fiber-to-the-home, and also aims to set up 5,000 WLAN hotspots.
