Huawei, ZTE Win Taiwan EV-DO Contracts

Netease Tech, 3/29/10

According to Taiwanese media, Asia Pacific Telecom has selected Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers Huawei and ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) to supply NTD 20 bln (RMB 4.28 bln) worth of EV-DO network equipment, with Huawei winning first bidding rights. Asia Pacific Telecom announced the decision just after meeting with Huawei executives to negotiate the details of the contract.

Asia Pacific Telecom emphasized that a relatively large portion of the NTD 20 bln would be invested in the network, content services and network equipment procurement, with 1,200 to 1,300 EV-DO base stations preordered for 2010 and 2011, followed by increased investment in equipment.
