Acer, Founder Announce Strategic Partnership

Taiwanese PC maker Acer and mainland computer maker Founder Technology Group (600601.SH) announced recently that they have formed a strategic partnership. Founder chairman and COO Li You said that the partnership between the two companies could boost their market share to among the top three in China's Mainland PC market.
Li said that Acer and Founder will establish a workgroup to explore the feasibility of a comprehensive partnership between Founder's IT businesses and Acer. Li stressed that the partnership between the companies will be on services, meaning that no matter what form the partnership takes, the companies will maintain independence of one another with regard to their IPR and their listed companies - there will be no stock swaps or mergers. As yet there are no specifics available regarding the partnership model or any timetables.
Editor's Note: Sina Tech also reported today that Fanshu.com, Founder's online literature portal, has signed on as a digital content provider for a new e-reader recently launched by Acer in Beijing.
