The Chengdu municipal government told reporters at a press conference yesterday that the city has already printed up plans for development of the Machine to Machine (M2M) industry for 2010-2012. The government intends to invest RMB 200 mln in the Chengdu's Shuangliu County, which is to become an industrial manufacturing zone for M2M. The plans indicate that Chengdu will strive to build its M2M production capability to a scale of over RMB 30 bln by 2012, and serve as home to more than 20 industry leaders and over 100 core M2M enterprises.

In 2010, Chengdu will begin by emphasizing pilot development of M2M applications in smart traffic, food safety, environmental monitoring and natural disaster warning, modern logistics, city and township management, and security. Chengdu will strongly support enterprises in the M2M sector through favorable policies on tax, financing, technology innovation, and industry, along with a dedicated fund for M2M industry development.
