Tencent Releases Updated Anti-Virus Software

Netease Tech, 6/01/10

On May 31, Chinese internet company Tencent (0700.HK) released version 4.0 of its QQ Doctor anti-virus application (now renamed "QQ Computer Manager"), offering functionality similar to rival free anti-virus application 360 Safe Guard. The new version of the application integrates QQ Doctor and the QQ Software Management Tool, and adds cloud-based defense against Trojan horses, along with browser plugin clean-up functionality. Users who install QQ Computer Manager will receive a free six-month trial of Norton Anti-Virus. The new application also features "software migration" functionality, allowing users to move applications to new drives when the C drive of their computers runs out of space.
