Netease Releases Air Ticket Reservation Service

Beijing Times, 1/04/11

Chinese internet portal and online game operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) recently launched an air ticket reservation service for all major airlines in the Chinese domestic market. Currently the service is available through the Netease portal (http://reg.163.com), the Netease game account recharge channel (http://shop.163.com), and the Netease blogging site (http://blog.163.com).

Manager of the service, Zhu Jingbo, explained that tens of thousands of specially-priced flights will be posted to the site daily. The site will offer additional discounts during the peak travel season around Chinese New Year (early February). Zhu also indicated that the company hopes to begin offering international tickets after Chinese New Year. Payments for tickets can be made using Netease's e-payment service (www.epay.163.com), online banking, and Alibaba Group's online payment service Alipay. Netease is also planning to develop an iPhone app for airline ticket purchases.
