MIIT: Number Portability to Go Nationwide in H2 2011

Oriental Morning Post, 1/05/11

Chen Jinqiao, director of the Institute of Telecommunication Policy at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR), predicted in an interview yesterday that China will expand number portability on a large scale in H2 2011. Chen believes the country will follow the "Hainan first, Tianjin second" model, meaning that uni-directional portability will be followed by bi-directional portability.

Currently, the biggest obstacles faced by the Hainan and Tianjin trials revolve around transferring wireless value-added services.
