Rumor: Kingsoft to Partner with Hardware Vendors on Anti-Virus

Tech Web, 1/21/11

According to an industry source, Fu Sheng, CEO of Kingsoft's (3888.HK) PC security and anti-virus subsidiary Kingsoft Network Technology, suggested at an internal meeting that a greater number of anti-virus apps with higher levels of sophistication will become available on the market, including some apps that are directly integrated with computer hardware. Kingsoft will reportedly develop a number of products in different fields to stay ahead of the trend, releasing them progressively throughout the year. Kingsoft has declined to comment about the rumor.

Another source revealed that since the release of Kingsoft Security Defender's open source software, a number of hardware vendors have indicated a desire to integrate different functions of Security Defender, such as Trojan horse virus removal, directly into the hardware of the vendor's products.
