Rumor: Google China GM of Reseller Sales Resigns

Netease Tech, 1/24/11

An industry source said today that Wang Xinyu, GM of Google China's designated ad reseller business development division, stepped down from his job in December. Wang had previously been accused by Google China ad resellers in eastern China of having profited by making changes to the company's roster of ad resellers.

Calls to Google spokesperson Wang Jinhong's mobile phone went unanswered.

Ad resellers say Wang Xinyu took a bribe from Beijing-based reseller Zibolan Search Engine Marketing to grant the company reseller rights for the Suzhou area of eastern China. Wang also reportedly offered to make Beijing-based Zoom Interactive Media the reseller for the Hangzhou region in exchange for a 50% stake in the company, but was turned down.

Google China has not made any response to the allegations.
