Hangzhou-based C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao recently launched a redesigned version of its search platform ETao, making significant changes to its logo, site design, color scheme and formatting.
Default search in the new version is now Taobao e-commerce search, whereas the previous design defaulted to "Integrated Search" results, now been renamed "Shopping Guide Search," which combined results from e-commerce, shopping guide, forums, and off-deck web search.
An ETao representative said the search engine had discontinued its "discount search" feature after discovering in trials that while users found information on discounts, they did not completely trust the offers. ETao will continue internal testing of the service.
