China Mobile May Invest in Thai Telecom Operator

The Bangkok Post recently reported that China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), Japanese mobile communications operator NTT DoCoMo, and South Korean telecom operator SK Telecom have been in discussions with the Thai Government to invest in Thailand's largest privately-owned telecom operator AIS, which owes the Thai government billions of USD.

A Thai source revealed that ICT minister Juti Krairiksh has invited China Mobile and NTT DoCoMo to submit investment proposals in two weeks' time.
