Foxconn Plans to Move China Manufacturing Inland

Sina Tech, 3/04/11

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) has plans to move its Shenzhen plant inland to reduce labor costs, creating 200,000 new jobs in its yet-to-be-revealed new location.

Louis Woo, chairman of Foxconn and head of its communications business, said that the Shenzhen production facility will remain the largest mainland China operation for the immediate future, but ultimately Foxconn plans to move production capacity to other areas and Shenzhen will be responsible only for trial production.
