Sina Tech, 3/17/11

According to Taiwanese media reports, mainland Chinese LCD television manufacturers may purchase up to USD 5 bln worth of LCD panels from Taiwanese manufacturers through orders that could start being placed this June. At present, 90% of the LCD panels used by mainland TV makers are from Taiwanese panel makers Chi-Mei and AU Optronics, LG Display, and Samsung. LED-backlit panels account for 30% of all LCD panels ordered by Chinese manufacturers. Whereas in 2010 most mainland manufacturers ordered 26" to 32" panels, orders from mainland manufacturers this year will include orders for panels 40" and larger.
