KongZhong: No Plans to Abandon Wireless Business

Netease Tech, 3/24/11

Wang Leilei, board chairman and CEO of Chinese traditional and mobile Internet company KongZhong (Nasdaq: KONG), recently divulged the company's online gaming strategy while clarifying that KongZhong has no plans to abandon its wireless business. Wang said KongZhong will focus development efforts on its online gaming business, placing equal emphasis on both licensed and self-developed games, to be led by Shanghai-based online gaming subsidiary Dacheng Network. Wang added that while KongZhong has begun developing mobile applications for platforms such as Android, revenues were "not worth mentioning."

Since the acquisition of Dacheng Network, many have speculated that KongZhong will focus solely on online gaming, and calls to do so have grown louder as the company's online gaming business continues to grow rapidly.
