CNTV Establishes Gaming Division

CCTV's national online TV station, CNTV, officially launched the CNTV Game Center yesterday, which will oversee gaming information platform Games.cntv.cn (formerly CCTVYouxi.com).

Currently, the platform has produced a weekly online TV program about online gaming, Diyi Youxi ("No. 1 Games"), and is building a platform for live broadcasts of the annual China Online Game (COG) tournament. In addition to CNTV's online video platform, gaming-related video content will also be exported to traditional TV, mobile phone TV, IPTV, and Internet TV platforms.

CNTV Game Center has reportedly built its own game operations and technical support platform, and will partner with veteran game operations teams to co-operate exclusive titles. The next step will be to improve CNTV's R&D capabilities and establish a development team to create wholesome and educational game titles to be released on multiple platforms.
