Rumor: Dangdang to Acquire Moonbasa

Sina Tech, 4/21/11

Chinese B2C e-commerce site Dangdang (NYSE: DANG) is reportedly in talks to acquire Chinese B2C apparel retailer Guangzhou MOLA Network Technology, which operates Chinese women's undergarment B2C e-commerce site Moonbasa, to pave the way for launching its own apparel labels.

Recruitment listings for positions in Dangdang's apparel division, such as senior directors for the women's and men's apparel departments and footwear department, are almost identical to those featured on Moonbasa.

MOLA, established in December 2006, has branch offices in Shanghai and Beijing and employs nearly 300 people. In addition to Moonbasa, the company operates women's fashion B2C Rutisher.com, men's fashion B2C Monteamor.com, men's footwear B2C Clafield.com, and children's apparel B2C Baoyeah.com.
