China Unicom's 3G Data Card Lineup Grows to 16

A spokesperson for China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) said that, with the company's recent release of two new 21 Mbps data cards, China Unicom now has a total of 16 different 3G data cards on offer.

China Unicom currently procures operator-customized 3G data cards from six different manufacturers: Huawei, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), Datang Telecom (600198.SH), Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB), Vtion Technology and Timespower.

Five of the cards are manufactured by Huawei and ZTE and two each from ASB and Vtion, while Datang and Timespower manufacture one card each. Card models include Huawei's E353, E261, E180, E1750 and E1780, ZTE's MF668A, MF631, MF190, MF633 and MF637U, Datang's Aircard951, Vtion's U1916, Timespower's WM3080A-300U and ASB's ASB W720 and WR540.
