Diandian Founder Accuses Renren of Blocking Content

Sina Tech, 5/30/11

Xu Chaojun, founder of Chinese lightweight blogging platform Diandian.com today publicly accused Beijing-based social networking site operator Renren (NYSE: RENN) of blocking Diandian content on its platform and depriving users of their rights. Xu, a former manager of Xiaonei.com (Renren's former name), said he had canceled his Renren account in protest. Renren has not commented on the matter.

Xu claims that Renren users are unable to post content with links to Diandian. When a user tries to do so, a message appears saying "this message contains inappropriate content, please review." Xu said that the blocking began on Diandian's second day after launch.
