Hangzhou-based C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao announced today that its distribution platform (fenxiao.taobao.com) had handled RMB 600 mln in transactions in July. Over the two years since it was first launched, the platform has grown to encompass more than 790,000 suppliers and 1.3 mln Taobao merchants, with peak transactions of more than RMB 54 mln per day.
Taobao developed its distribution platform to help suppliers develop, manage, and operate online sales channels, and to help merchants find product suppliers. The platform allows suppliers to search through Taobao's nearly 1 mln sellers to find new sales channels, and likewise allows merchants to search for suppliers.
The Taobao distribution platform also offers an "approved" logo program, under which a "Taobao Distribution Platform Approved" logo will appear next to products from participating suppliers in Taobao merchants' online shops, informing shoppers that the product is genuine and from an authorized supplier.
