Baidu Forms 800-Person Team to Review Ad Client Credentials

Wang Zhan, VP of Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), announced yesterday that the Baidu had formed a dedicated team of nearly 800 employees to review the business licenses and ICP licenses of any clients seeking to place ads on Baidu. Clients seeking to place ads for medicine and health products, legal services, and air tickets - or services in other designated industries - will also be required to present licenses from the applicable governmental departments. On average, Baidu's auditing system and team process a total of more than 1.2 mln search keywords a day and automatically reject or require offline review for more than 110,000. This year alone, 86,000 ad clients were rejected or subject to offline review for insufficient credentials or illegal ads.
