China Telecom Launches Four RMB-1,000 3G Smartphones

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) is in the process of releasing its first four RMB 1,000 3G smartphones - the Huawei C8560, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) N760, Coolpad 5820, and Lenovo (0992.HK) A68e. All four handsets run Android 2.3 and support 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, and are priced around RMB 1,000.

The Huawei C8650 will be the first to hit the market, and is a key focus of China Telecom's promotional efforts. Its contract price will be RMB 990, while the ZTE N760 will sell for approximately RMB 900.

China Telecom also plans to promote large-screen RMB 1,000 3G smartphones, including the Coolpad 5860 and Coolpad 5855 from Shenzhen-based handset maker Yulong Computer Telecommunication, a subsidiary of China Wireless Technologies (2369.HK).
