Rumor: Game Firms Compete for Anti-Cheating Software Developer

17173.com, 10/13/11

Chinese online game operators Tencent (0700.HK) and Perfect World (Nasdaq: PWRD) have reportedly begun competing to acquire Shanghai-based gaming security service provider You'an Network Technology. A source within the company confirmed You'an is in talks with major Internet firms, but could not reveal any details as the discussions are still in the preliminary stage. The source emphasized that You'an has built relationships with many online gaming firms in the ten years it has offered its HProtect anti-cheating software, which averages 1 mln daily users and can boost online gaming companies' revenues 10% or more.

Chinese online security software developer Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU), meanwhile, has reportedly entered the online gaming security market.
