Lei Ming, CEO of Chinese music software company Kuwo.cn, said yesterday that Kuwo had 200 mln registered users. Lei added the site has 15 to 20 mln active users per day, roughly 100 mln active users per month, and roughly 10 mln mobile client users - slightly more of them on Android handsets than on iOS handsets.
Lei said that Kuwo continued to rely on ad revenues, but added that "ad value had not been maximized" yet. He revealed that Kuwo had yet to move from breaking even to profitability on a large scale, with the majority of its expenditures being used to acquire copyrights - but was no longer burning cash. The company's next move will be to target ads to listeners based on the listerners' musical choices.
