Jiangsu Announces Broadcasting 12th Five-Year Plan, 12/13/11

On December 5, Jiangsu provincial government announced its 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) goals for the development of broadcast and television technology. The plan calls for radio and TV coverage for 100% of the province's population by 2015; achieving screenings of one digital film per month in administrative-level villages; essentially completing terrestrial DTV systems coverage throughout the province, or of satellite coverage for public service broadcasts in designated regions; growing to 21 mln cable subscriber households throughout the province, with coverage of 85% of homes; essentially completing digital conversions for radio and television broadcasts at all levels, and launching eight to ten HD programming stations province-wide, with gradual promotion of 3D television; essentially completing all digital conversions and bi-directional network upgrades to cable television networks throughout the province; and implementing CMMB coverage in cities and townships.
