Xiaomi Daily Smartphone Shipments Reach 15K, 12/16/11

Beijing-based Android handset developer Xiaomi yesterday announced that it is currently shipping 15,000 smartphones daily. The company reiterated that the handset will be available to all individual and enterprise customers on December 18, with the per-customer limit expanded to 2 units.

Terry Cheng, president of Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW), recently visited Xiaomi, which has led to speculation that Foxconn will take over contract manufacturing of the Xiaomi phone as a result of the coming commercial launch and China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) recent procurement order.
