Beijing Mobile Launches New SMS Services for Corporate Users

Beijing Times, 12/20/11

Beijing Mobile has announced a new enhanced SMS product dubbed "Wang Xin" ("Internet Message"), a high capacity interactive message distribution system aimed at enterprise users. The service allows users to send messages sized between 300 KB and 3 MB, larger than those available through traditional SMS and MMS technologies, and also offers interactive features such as allowing mobile users to reply or vote in online polls. The service also allows users to send animation and audiovisual content as well as traditional text and image content.

There are two sets of subscription packages geared at users who need small or large message size limits, each available at six different price points, with the lowest priced small-sized message package offering 900 messages for RMB 200 per month, and the lowest priced large-sized message package offering 1,000 messages for RMB 300 per month. Regular China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) users who receive Wang Xin messages will not be charged any additional data fees.
