usqiaobao.com, 1/06/12

China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has announced that China's 34 satellite TV stations have reduced entertainment programming across seven categories by two-thirds compared to the beginning of last year, increased news-related content by one-third, and created 50 new types of content.

According to a SARFT spokesperson, daily news programming grew 33% YoY to 193 programs covering 89 hours. Entertainment programming from seven categories - dating shows, talent shows, true life story programs, game shows, variety shows, talk shows, and reality shows - fell nearly 70% YoY from 126 programs in January 2011. New types of content included economics, culture, science, youth, documentary, and other programming.
