Hangzhou-based B2C e-commerce site Taobao Mall will likely reopen its online pharmaceutical channel during the Chinese New Year holidays (January 22-28), according to an industry source. According to another industry insider, during the 2011 Online Pharmacy Conference in Beijing on December 17, Taobao Mall VP Chen Jun invited the assembled companies to apply to join Taobao's platform.
Taobao Mall's online pharmacy can still provide online product information, with transactions being processed on a licensed merchant's website. The number of participating online pharmacy merchants has grown from 5 in June to 15.
