China Telecom Becomes Topway's 2nd Largest Shareholder

Chinese cable TV operator Topway (002238.SZ) issued a public filing today announcing that former shareholder Shenda Telephone, a Shenzhen-based telephone maker, had sold the entirety of its 31.2 mln shares in Topway to China Telecom Corporation Limited (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK). Shenda Telephone completed the transfer procedures on January 6, 2012. China Telecom now holds a 9.74% share of Topway, making it the company's second-largest shareholder. Topway's largest shareholder, with a 59.4% stake in the company, is Shenzhen Media Group.
