Shanda to Build Mobile Gaming Platform

Alan Tan, Chairman and CEO of online game developer and operator Shanda Games (Nasdaq: GAME), recently revealed that Shanda is working to build a mobile game distribution platform. He added that the company had already approached several mobile online game development teams for negotiations with the hopes of pushing out a new mobile online game platform in 2012 for both domestic and overseas players. However, Tan admitted that Shanda's existing advantages in online gaming were not necessarily applicable to mobile platforms, and said that mobile games will not become a significant source of income any time soon.
