Sina Tech, 3/06/12

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has announced that it will begin testing TD-LTE-powered Wi-Fi services on Hangzhou's B1 express bus line, freely accessible via any Wi-Fi capable device regardless of operator and without user authentication. According to a China Mobile representative, network speeds can reach up to 80 Mbps, and are expected to average between 40-50 Mbps. China Mobile is currently building a TD-LTE commercial trial network for Zhejiang province and expects to have 600 base stations deployed citywide by May and nearly 2,000 installed by the end of 2012.

China Mobile previously launched TD-LTE technical trials in six cities - Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Xiamen.
