Dangdang to Compensate Users of Hijacked Accounts

Sina Tech, 3/20/12

A number of Dangdang (NYSE: DANG) customers complained recently that their accounts on the Chinese B2C e-commerce site had been hacked, and their account balances stolen. Dangdang issued a statement today saying that from March 19 to 21, it will institute an emergency freeze on all Dangdang user account balances and gift cards in order to encourage users to change their passwords. The company will compensate affected users for the full amount of their stolen account balances.
