US Media Retracts Critical Reports on Foxconn

Shenzhen Evening News, 3/20/12

On March 16, National Public Radio's (NPR) program "This American Life" officially retracted its exposé of Apple's primary final assembly supplier, the Shenzhen factory branch of Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW). The U.S. program withdrew its story after discovering that narrator Mike Daisey had fabricated several details, including his claims to have seen 12-14 year-old underage workers and to have witnessed armed guards at the borders of the Shenzhen factory.
