China Telecom Provides Mobile Cloud App

Sohu IT, 5/22/12

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) recently launched a new mobile cloud service enabling any China Telecom 3G smartphone with the "E-Surfing Desktop" software installed to function as a cloud phone. Beijing Telecom will be responsible for nationwide operations of the mobile cloud service, which can be downloaded and installed free of charge at http://fancy.189.cn.

The service offers data backup capabilities, including one-touch backups and anti-theft functionality. China Telecom subscribers who lose their mobile phones will be able to track their handset's location through the service, and can send remote commands to the handset to password-lock it or remove all personal data in order to prevent private information from being stolen. The mobile cloud service platform is connected to China Telecom's E-Surfing Space App Market platform, and will add support in the cloud for other user-facing products from the operator as the service matures.
