China Unicom Projects 100 Mln 3G Subs by Year-End

Chang Xiaobing, Chairman and CEO of China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH), has announced that the company plans to reach 100 mln 3G subscribers by the end of the year. As of the end of Q3 2012, China Unicom had 66.9 mln 3G subscribers, comprising 30% of total China Unicom subscribers.

According to Chang, "The iPhone 5 is currently under government review. We will release the handset as soon as it receives government certification."
