Rumor: China Telecom to Release High-End Samsung Smartphone

CWW, 11/13/12

According to an industry source, in order to meet the needs of higher end users, China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has commissioned Samsung to custom manufacture a high-end business-oriented mobile handset for the company. The handset will be targeted towards middle- to upper-income professionals. Currently, the name and details of the phone have yet to be revealed, however there is speculation that the phone will be a China Telecom version of the Galaxy Note II. It is expected that the price of the new phone will be greater than the price of the Samsung W999, which was launched by China Telecom last year for over RMB 10,000.
