Fiberhome, Telekom Malaysia Build Joint R&D Lab

Chinese communication equipment and network solutions provider Fiberhome Telecommunication Technologies (600498.SH) signed a partnership agreement with Telekom Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur recently for joint construction of a joint laboratory. The lab will focus on R&D for future telecommunications systems and fiber-optic telecommunications technologies, including large-capacity optical transmissions networks, multi-service broadband access, smart terminals applications, high-end optical component applications and development, wireless broadband, and other key technologies.
Fiberhome and Telekom Malaysia have partnered on a number of projects over the past several years, including high-speed optical networks and broadband access. More than 1,000 Fiberhome optical transport network (OTN) systems are powering Telekom Malaysia's High Speed Broadband (HSBB) backbone network, and tens of thousands of FTTH systems are used in the operator's UniFi FTTx broadband service.
